Facebook Messenger app for Android

Facebook has released a new stand-alone messaging app for the iPhone and Android smartphones that marries its Facebook Messaging service with the group messaging app Beluga that the social network purchased earlier this year. Called Messenger, the new app allows you to quickly and easily access your Facebook messages and chats, and start new single or group chats with both your Facebook friends and those in your phone’s contact list. The app has location based features as well as innovative image sending options that let you pick a photo from your phone’s gallery, or use Bing Image search to insert an image from the web. The new Facebook Messenger app is free and available in the iTunes App Store and Android Market now.
